Good news

I received 3 contracts in the mail this week for some of my creations in For Keeps Creative Paper. I shall let you know when they appear in the magazine. How exciting.

Luv Sandie

What a shocka!!!!!

The weather her is a big fat shocka!!!!! We have had 2 days of 43degrees - its just atrocious!!!!!
I am the type of person who doesn't cope with anything over 28 degrees - so you can imagine how cranky I am having to cope with 40+ temps. Next week is going to be 33+degrees all week.
Bring on Autumn I say. I've had enough!!!!
I hope to get some creating done over the weekend. I need to get my cards for my card class at Said Simply. Looking forward to this class - first one back for the year and its going to be a Valentines theme. Should be great!!!!
Not much else planned for the weekend - just try and keep cool I think.

Our girlies start their first day of High School on Monday - I'm going to miss them!!!! They are keen to go - they have all their new stationery and uniform.

Have a great weekend everyone. Hope all is well in your part of the world.

Home Sweet Home

This card was made for a challenge over at Card-A-Licious. The challenge was to use a journalling card/tag and the colours orange and brown.

I love this little house stamp. So cute.

CPS 100

Well I scouted around to look for sketches and stumbled across Card Positioning Systems Sketch No. 100.
Thought I'd give it a go. When you're hot you're hot and there's not much else to do so I thought I would keep on creating.
Thanks for looking.

Vintage Green and Orange

Remember a couple of weeks ago I showed you a Vintage Kids Recipe book? Well I discovered on the back cover that there were these funky as images of flowers, butterflies, bees etc. So I thought I'd cut them out and attach it to a card. I also made a tree from orange pp, embossed it using my Cuttlebug and for the trunk I have used an icy-pole stick and added a bit of tape measre. The grass is cuttlebugged too. Oh and my little apple punch.

Thanks for popping in.
Luv Sandie
(p.s. I've gotta say it is so hot outside and so bright - you can even see the double sided foam tape in these images it is that bright out there. It's about 41degrees celcius - damn hot!!!!!!!!)

With Love - 2 Sketches 4 You

Here is my take on the sketch challenge No. 18 over at 2 Sketches 4 You.

I have used KaiserCraft pp, Maya Road tree trunk/bird , sequins and rhinestones, cuttlebug for the cloud, little flowers and some green mesh.

Some Craft Queen Projects

I have had some bits and pieces of ribbons, trims etc leftover from my Craft Queen work, so I thought I’d make a layout – the first layout in what would have to be getting close to a year. Cool huh"? I have used some lovely ribbons, flowers and bits and pieces.

I also created a card using my new black Handmade Daisies by Sandie. The pp is by Scenic Route. I kept this card fairly simple.

Thanks for looking.

Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day everyone. Hope you have had a great day!!!!
We headed into Melbourne to enjoy all the fun. The day started with a train trip into Flinders Street followed by a fantastic street parade - very multi-cultural. It was so great to see so many different countries represented and all flying the Australian Flag. At 11.30 the RAAF jets flew over - the roar was amazing - I was covered in goosebumps.

Then we walked to the Kings Domain and Alexandra Gardens where there were lots and lots of different hands-on stuff for the kids to do. Most of the activities were FREE which was fantastic. The kids loved it.
I will have some photos to share tomorrow hopefully.
But for now I will just leave you with a couple of photos. And being the true Aussie that I am I had some good old Vegimite today. I would be lost without this stuff - I reckon its running through my veins. LOL!!!!

With Love

This is the card I created for Caardvarks "Polka" challenge. It's all about spots so I opted for this combo. Making Memories pp - scalloped edge, Prima flowers, buttons, brads, ribbon and trim, ribbon button and alphas. I added some little red wooden beads to the centre of the red button for something a little different to also add dimension.
I've gotta say I'm luvin getting back into the creating mode. For today anyway. Tomorrow is Australia Day so we will be sharing the love with our family.

You Are My Sunshine

Here is a card I made this afternoon using some gorgeous little flowers that you can find over at Craft Queen. Nicole sent them to me to play with. I was happy just looking at them for a while and they feel just lovely - velvety!!!! Yum!!!!!

I kept the card fairly simple this time - I also created a little flower from fabric using a "self-cover button". I have had these in my stash for sometime now and thought I'd give it a go. It was nice and easy. I also made a suffolk puff and added that to the back of the fabric flower.
Thanks for looking.

Photo Memory Game

Good old Marie (gosh she's not gunna like me for calling her old - but hey we're all getting old - I know I'm 40 in a couple of months..............arghhhhhhh!!!!), has sent me a challenge to join in a "Photo Memory Game". Here are the rules:-
Go to where you store you pictures on your computor.
Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH picture.
Post that picture on your blog along with a SHORT story about it.
Tag SIX people and leave a comment on their blog or email them letting them know you chose them.
This is an interesting challenge - I like it. Thanks for including me in the fun Marie.
Now for 6 people to tag - I hope THEY like me.
1. Deanne
2. Rachel - Pepper
3. Nicole - Craft Queen
4. Lyn
5. Anita
6. Carol (new blogger - you need to watch this blog)

I will be popping into these girlies blogs to see if they complete the challenge.
My photo: This is a photo I took on our way back from our visit to East Gippsland after Christmas 2008. We have often driven past the sign saying that there was a trestle bridge and often wanted to drop in for a look. We had to drive about 3km through winding bush to get to this beauty but it was well worth it. I've gotta add too though that the mozies were humungous and were on the attack - especially for me for some reason!!!!!
I just love all things old and this would have to be up there as one of my top 10 lucky finds.

Thanks for popping in.

R.I.P

Sean's Aunt passed away last week after a long battle with cancer. We had the funeral today - it was actually very nice. The music was beautiful.
Isn't it amazing how much of a re-union a funeral can turn out to be. Today we saw family and friends that we haven't seen since our wedding - nearly 15 years ago. It was so nice to speak with them.

Nothing much going on otherwise - its gunna be a hot week this week in the 30's at least everyday. Pooh cack I say!!!!! I don't like summer!!!!!!

Bring on Autumn.

I hope all is well in your part of the world.

Thanks for looking.

Luv Sandie

Last weekend's finds!!!!!

I went to the local market last week and came across these little beauties.

I am going to cut into the cookbook because it has some great images in it - not necessarily great recipes...........LOL. I don't usually cut up books but this one is different.
And the buttons - well they were just on the MUST HAVE list. The wooden ones with the red centres are massive - I have picuted them on a bag as the buckle - I shall hunt around for some vintage fabric to go with them. Pretty cool huh?

Luv Sandie

Yay - Free Counter is back up and running!!!!

I just signed in and scanned down the page and voila!!!!! It's back.

Happy Christmas - Happy Chook!!!!! LOL

I was going through our Christmas cards and remembered I wanted to share this card with you.

Sean's Aunt sent it to us and I've gotta say its one of the coolest Christmas cards we've ever received. Don't ya just think this looks like the luckiest and happiest chook - strutting its stuff in amongst the plants. I'm not sure where she bought it from but is way cool!!!!!

Sean's Aunt also took part in "rent a chook". There is a group close by where she lives where you can "rent a chook" for so many weeks then the chook goes back and is rented to another person. Isn't that such a great idea? Better than going to lengths of setting up a chook house and buying the chooks only to discover it's just not you. Anyway, that's all - just wanted to share it with you.

This is called The Proximity Award. What a gorgeous looking award it is too!!!!! I received this award from the talented Aga. I just love Aga's work and I noticed on her blog that a recent layout uploaded to her blog has been taken out for publication - it doesn't get much better than that. Cool. Thanks for the award Aga. Luv ya!!!!!

New mattress

Well to some it may not sound too exciting - but for one old chook who has been waking up stiff and sore its mighty exciting!!!! Tomorrow a new mattress is being delivered to our home. I cannot wait. We have had our mattress way too long and now it's a matter of out with the old and in with the new. We went shopping for one on the weekend and said "lock it in"
So yesterday I was having a bit of a spring clean in our bedroom - much needed dusting and de-cluttering was taking place - I was peeoooooped by the time I'd finished but that's one job to tick of the list.
Today I am going op-shopping in the hope of chasing up another couple of the girls school text books - I'm feeling lucky - so fingers crossed we will stumble across one or two.
Josh is off to his mates place - oh and the unicycling is coming along nicely - getting a little further each time. He really is enjoying it!!!!!
What have you been up to?

Have a beaut day.

Well no creating

There was no creating done today - except for creating a space on my desk!!!!!! LOL!!!!
It was covered with so much stuff I only had a little patch the size of a card to work in. I came across things I haven't seen for a while - plus things I forgot I had (how embarassing).

Paid a visit to the uniform shop for the girls and ended up with school dresses and shorts for PE.
Cool.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

HELP!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

I thought I'd throw out a cry of help on my blog cause ya just never know!!!!!

As both girls are starting high school this year we need 2 of everything obviously.

I am wondering if anyone out there (well Victorians at least) would have any Year 7 textbooks for sale.

We need:

Jacaranda Atlas 6th Edition
Jacaranda Humanities Alive Georgraphy 1
Master Maths 7 (managed to find this one - yay)
Health PE Book 1, 3rd Edition
Ecco! Uno Textbook (italian)

Or if you know of someone that I could contact who is willing to sell them that would be great thanks.

Obviously we could have been them new however we are seeking to buy them secondhand - we have rustled up 3 books so far which is great.

Thanks for your help.

Tuesday 6 January 2009

Oh the fun.............

Josh's birthday was in November and he managed to rake up some money - lucky him. Anyway it has been driving him mad knowing that he has the money but hadn't yet spent it. That was up until last Friday when he and Sean put a bid on a Uni-cycle on Ebay and won. He was stoked and has been watching for the postie ever since. Well today was his lucky day - it arrived at about 2 oclock - Josh had a grin from ear to ear. He actually assembled it himself (this was after I said to wait until Dad gets home - but it got the better of him waiting).

So now he is outside trying to get the hang of it - I'm thinking it's going to be taking up a lot of his time - it's rather hard but he is persevering - and the tongue has been out the whole time......................LOL.

Must go and get a photo to share for you.

Very productive day today

Today has been a very productive day. The kids and I started off the day by cutting down quite a large branch from one of our trees down the side fence. One of the branches had actually died so it was time to go - it is green waste rubbish collection tomorrow so it was a matter of getting it done. The kids were a great help - I was on the hand saw and they were getting ready to see which way it was going to fall and then helped to chop it up and put it in the bin.
We then stopped for a morning tea break and then got stuck into scraping off paint from the pillars on the front verandah. They have been peeling (or should I say - everyone has been having a pick at them to see who can get the biggest piece of paint off....LOL) for sometime now and its been on the "gunna" list for a while. So we all got stuck into it with some paint scrapers and later on some sanding blocks and the electric sander came in handy for the last minute bits.
So tomorrow is a matter of wiping them down and getting stuck into the undercoat. The kids are keen to help with painting - but I reckon I shall have to see how I am tomorrow as to whether I want to take that on.......LOL. The weather is supposed to be 30 degrees tomorrow, so I'm thinking I will get up early and start painting to get the first coat on. Sounds good in theory anyway!!!!

Visit to Emerald Lake Park

Yesterday we visited Emerald Lake Park which is about a 25 minute drive from home.
It was for our little friends joint birthday party. The little dude turned 1 and his sister is turning 6 this Wednesday so they combined parties to have it on one day - great idea.
The day was absolutely glorious with a comfortable 25 degrees. Our friends had booked one of the picnic shelters and there was heaps of room for a few families to celebrate.
After a bbq lunch all the kids had a swim in the swimming pool and there were plenty of people playing on the aqua bikes. We left about 4.30 and had such a great time.
The scenery at this place was unreal - I only wish I had my camera - doh!!!!! The pics on the site don't do the place justice at all - I think they need a new photographer. There were hundreds of people there too - parking was a bit tricky but we managed to find a park in the shade which was a bonus.

Here is the link

http://www.emeraldlakepark.com.au/index.asp?h=-1

Not much planned for today - just the usual housework duties.

Whatever you get up to - take it easy and have fun!!!!!
