Visit to the Osteopath again today

Well I fronted up to the Osteopath again today. Back isn't giving me any trouble at all of late (touch wood) but the old shin splints have been terrible.

The Osteopath worked on them today - let me tell you - I thought childbirth was painful - well I soon found out that I was WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG!!!!!!!

I was really working up a sweat with the pain - it was so intense. She said I would end up hating her as it was going to hurt - She is lovely actually. Very good at her job. I told her that I know I have to go through some pain to get somewhere with everything. I have to take it easy on the walking with the shin splints how they are at the moment otherwise I could end up with all sorts of trouble. So I will just have to get out on the bike me thinks.

She also gave me a referral for an X-ray on my hip - its not getting any better and keeping me awake at night.
So I should get the results of them by the end of the week hopefully.

For now - it's just rest and...............................catch up on some blogging and blog hopping.

What's news with you? Anything exciting happening that I NEED to know about?

So You Think You Can Scrap? Round 1

Lorrie from Scrapbook Capital is running a competition “So You Think You Can Scrap?” Our first challenge was to use fabric/material and to add some stitching.

I have chosen a patterned paper by Paper Loft “Field Of Daisies – Well Worn” I added some Aida Cloth (used in Cross-Stitching) to the back of the photo and created a ruffle from some green fabric. I sewed on some vintage buttons and added some rulers for the stems.

I have also used my new Handmade Daisies colours – Caramel and White as well as the Red. To each centre I sewed a Suffolk Puff and added it with a button to each flower.

I hand drew the clouds onto a sheet of cork and cut them out and then added a stitched border using a brown marker.

The title was created using some adhesive alphas by Bella. Just the thing I needed – I have had these in my stash for some time now.

The journalling was done using a dymo label.

Thanks for popping in for a sticky beak.

Have you noticed me missing?

I have been laying very low the last week or so. I am trying to find the balance between life and my other life - the internet. I am one of these people that gets easily hooked on things - the net has been ruling a bit of late so I am trying to cut back a little bit.

I have been busily working on creating some cards, layouts etc to showcase my new Handmade Daisies range - should be this week - fingers crossed. It's taking a little bit longer than I thought - doesn't help that I am not only the "obsessive" type but I am also the "impatient" type.............LOL.

Our girls have been rehearsing over the last couple of months for their school Musical which has taken up a lot of our time - they had their first show on Friday and it all went off well.
We are going to see them this week. The musical is "Beauty and The Beast".......looking forward to it.

Josh finished up the year with his footy. Unfortuantely they didn't make it to the grand final but they certainly gave it their best. So between footy and rehearsals we have been tied up one way or another. It will be nice to finally get our weekends back again.

Well that's it for now.

Have you got any news I need to know about or any news you'd like to share????? Would love to hear from you so just pop on in and leave a comment.

Take care - hope all is well in your part of the world.

Little Scrapbook Shop Cybercrop

On the weekend I joined in the fun of a cybercrop going on over at Little Scrapbook Shop.

The first challenge was to create a card

I used one of my NEW Daisies colours which is

Caramel.

Here is the card

augustcardsketch

The next challenge was to create a layout all about
“how you recharge your batteries”

The way I recharge my batteries is to call on my good old “chick flicks” I took a photo of “some” of them and then added all bits and pieces of embellishments to the layout. I had heaps of fun with this one. This is the sort of layout I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. Just adding things as I went along – things that make me happy!!

chickflicks

chickflicksa

The nex challenge was to create a layout using acetate somewhere on your layout – the idea was to have it exposed with nothing at the back of it – like a window. We could use it anyway we liked – circles, squares etc – as long as it was see through. Here is my layout.

I saw a similar idea using these framed boxes somewhere in my travels – it was using a Digital kit – I thought “hey I could re-create something like this” so here it is. These photos are of my gorgeous little Sudanese godson – Stephen. This was celebrating his first Christmas in 2007. I just love him!!!!! You can see in the photo that I have left the 3rd and 5th boxes empty – this is where the acetate is.

stephens1st

stephens1sta

The next challenge was to use a photo of someone or something sleeping or resting. This time I have used a photo of Stephen’s dear little brother Steward – here he is sleeping in his mum’s arms. What a gorgeous little face – how are those kissy lips????

inspirationlayout

inspirationlayouta

inspirationlayoutb Just adding that I won this challenge - yay!!!

And last but not least – our next challenge was a “Step by Step” Helen showed us how to create a flower pot card.

I have added my yummy new colours in my Handmade Daisies to create this card. Here it is

stepbystepaugust 2 New Daisies Colours – Chocolate and Peppermint (also Hot Pink)

stepbystepaugustb

This photo shows some hand stitching I added to the card as well.

Well that’s it – that is the most creating I’ve done in a long time and I’ve gotta say the most fun I’ve had in a long time too.

Thanks for popping in – hope all is well in your part of the world.

I've had this written down ....................

for a while now. Can't remember if I shared it or not - so here it is anyway.

A few months ago the Little Scrapbook Shop ran a Cybercrop with the theme being around Dr. Seuss - we had to use part of a book title or something like that I think.
Anyway...................I didn't use this one but I copied it down because I thought it was beautiful.

"You know when you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams!!"

How nice is that? I just love it!!!!!

Luv Sandie

Well whadya know.......................

I have some rather exciting news. I won one of the bag challenges over at Moxie Fab World. Can I say that I am just a LITTLE excited................wow!!!!!!

Hmmmm....I've been thinking!!!!

(Here is ONE of my fave handbags - you will have to excuse the dirty fingerprints in the photo - I took this out side on the table..........oopsie)
Don't laugh - I do think sometimes.

The last challenge - the bag challenge got me thinking.

If you would like to join in the fun - all you need to do is the following

1. Take a photo of your favourite bag
2. Pop the photo of your bag on your blog (or forward it to me via email)
3. Compete a card, otp, atc or layout drawing inspiration from your bag.

I will then add a photo to my blog and anyone that would like to join in can by completing their own bag challenge or maybe you'd like to join in all of the bag challenges - its up to you.

Ok - I'm off to take a photo of MY bag. (Just added my pic - go ahead - make something using this as inspiration)

Back soon.

Em's Birthday

Well this time (well nearly this time - in 1 hours time actually) 14 years ago - my life changed forever.
I gave birth to my first child. After a fairly long labour - Emily Nicole Downey arrived into the world. I can remember it like it was yesterday. Being a mum for the first time - wow!!!!! Nothing prepares you for that!!!!!

Happy 14th Birthday Em.

It's been a looooooooooooooong weekend of partying for us all. Em had some new and old friends over for a party yesterday. That all went off well. We managed to have it outside under our new pergola which was a bonus. Plenty of fun had by all.

Today has been a rather busy one - off to mass this morning, home for morning tea with Nan and Pop. Lunch with Nana and Pa - birthday cake, quick bite for tea and then off to the movies with Dad to see Harry Potter.

Phew..............I'm tired just thinking about what we managed to cram in this weekend.

Sleep tight everyone. Hope you've had a great weekend and ready for brand new week.

What Are You Up To This Weekend??????

(there is a story to this little easel - I stamped the wings onto acetate and detailed with Kindyglitz, stamped the heart again onto green paper and then added dimensional magic, glitter, seed beads and rhinestone.
The story behind the saying "let it go" is what gets me through things when things are getting on top of me emotionally. If I have a worry on my mind I usually say these words "let it go"........it helps to clear my mind a bit - so now I can look at my little easel and try to relax.)

If you have some spare time you need to head on over to Little Scrapbook Shop.

We are joining in the fun of the Clayton's Retreat - the retreat you have when you're not having a retreat!!!!
A whole bunch of girlies have headed off for the weekend to Merroo in NSW to have a scrappin/fun weekend. So that means the girlies that couldn't make the retreat don't miss out - we still get to have some fun.

So you need to click HERE - let the fun begin.

(I managed 3 challenges - a cupcake set of 4 cards, a friendship card and an OTP which had to be a miniature - I have had this little easel looking at me on my desk for a long time - finally got to complete it.)
Thanks for looking (excuse the sideways images - stupid blogger)
